Before you are dangerously distracted by the beautiful scenery of Sedona, Arizona, pull over! There are many areas along the highways to get off the road and park. "A Courtin' We Did Go," on this lovely spring morning, stopping off at Courthouse Rock, wetting our appetite for the beauty that awaits us. A lovely springtime, cloud puffed sky, really accentuates the rich color of the rock and scrubland. One of Sedona's scenic viewpoints.
Sedona, Arizona (USA), is a wonderful gateway to what was waiting for us, when we would arrive see the grandeur of Grand Canyon National Park, our dream come true with our dear Eva!
Courthouse Butte (Rock), is located off the trailhead that serves the better known Bell Rock. According to local legend, nearby Cathedral Rock was supposed to be called Courthouse Butte, and Courthouse Butte was supposed to be called Church Rock, because of its close proximity to Bell Rock and its church bell symmetry. However, a mapmaker in the 1800s mislabeled the formations and the names became part of history. No matter how this fabulous rock formation got its name, it is one landscape point of interest, you won’t want to miss.

Thank you dear Jane for the HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your fabulous, and a special place in my heART, Art Group, "AMERICAN DESERT SOUTHWEST!" To me, the beautiful, rustic woodland, is what makes the red rock standout. Coming in April as we did, the wildflowers and cactus were not in bloom yet. A lovely hike to take with water and vegetation of Sedona against the red rock, is at Cathedral Rock. Once upon a time it was free to go there. Now it is $20.00, so at that price you better make a day of it. In May of 2016, it was late in the day, and we were going to make a brief visit as we had in the past, but sadly would not for that. I appreciate your lovely comment about this. It means a lot. Hugs, Janet
