I was photographing blooms on my Barrel Cactus, and happened to notice to my utter surprise, a yellow flower on this "Golden Barrel Cactus" (Echinocactus grusonii). Amusingly called Mother-in-law Cushion! Flowers do not appear on these cacti until after 20 years. This has been around for 5 years. I have never seen a bloom on a Golden Barrel Cactus before. This is a small, delicate flower, surrounded by protective thorns. Fragile, yet strong and determined, noticed by me.
Yellow is a color that evokes the feelings of joy and happiness; a symbol of friendship. So I just had to title the Golden Barrel Cactus flower as "A BARREL OF FUN!"

Beautiful picture! hello loredana Actually, Loredana, it did not bloom 15 years ahead of time. At the time, we had it only for 5 years, but was not 5 years old when purchased, but was a mature cactus. Thank you for your beautiful thoughts expressed about this, I really appreciate it!
