The only way for me to photograph a butterfly, is to use a long lens, as they have very good vision. Any movement, and they flutter away. This was not an easy photo shoot, due to what I described. Thank you for sharing your wonderful comment about my work. I really appreciate it!

I guess you could say I have spread my wings. Choosing to pursue a passion of mine, subdued for a long time. Brought out when taken notice by my lovely and dear friend, fellow FAA artist, Eva Maria Nova. She encouraged me to spread my wings, and share what I love to the globe. Hany! What a nice surprise to have you visit my gallery and share your wonderful comment about my artwork. I was only able to capture these painted ladies using my zoom lens. There were so many of them, it gave me more chances to pull it off. I hesitate to have garden flowers or ground cover due to the killer bees. When the bees are present, the butterflies are not. I hope to capture some butterfly images when my Texas Laurel will be filled purple blooms. The secret is having plants that attract them, and keep them there and distracted. This Lantana was just that. It was a challenge but so much fun, then good results. Sometimes it just works. I appreciate your vote of confidence in me and the compliment. Thank you for that!

This image was taken in the fall during migration. There were lots of painted ladies, 1 monarch, and one gulf fritillary. I saw no butterflies this past fall in this area. I was able to photograph a very small butterfly at Saguaro National Park. I have great respect for those who photograph my favorites, knowing it’s not the easiest thing to do. I also appreciate you choosing this as one of your favorites. That means a lot. Janet 💕
