Description
The last light of the last day of January illuminates bald cypress trees in Louise Hays Park in Kerrville Texas. Although the trees are bare of leaves, they carry a heavy burden of branches and twigs that became entangled during the last high water on the Guadalupe River. I took the reference photo for this painting at the end of January, 2020, before Covid changed so much of our lives. It seems years and years ago. The Guadalupe however, is unaware of human events, and is as beautiful as ever. Last Light of January has been accepted into the 72nd Annual Texas Watercolor Society National Exhibit, June 11-August 12, 2021.
