Artist
Marsha Reeves
Medium
Painting - Watercolor And Acrylic On Crumpled Masa Paper
Description
This painting began with a reference photo I took of the Guadalupe River, from the G Street bridge in my hometown of Kerrville, Texas. It was winter and most of the trees were bare, including the ones growing on a little rocky islet in the river. I achieved the "batik" effect in this painting by crumpling Japanese Masa paper in water. When it dried, watercolor applied to the back of the paper created a crackled effect.

Dear Marsha, keep playing with batik and you might just entice me back into this difficult paper…I LOVE this and the last edit you painted!…some truly edgy, AWEsome work! Not many can navigate delicate Japanese papers…BRAVA! FAV

The secret is if you tear them, you can glue them back with the matte medium :)
