Description
I have a patch of vintage bearded irises from the 1920s growing in front of my garden shed. They are an unusual shade of rosy pink and yellow, and bloom in profusion on tall stalks. As I looked at their sunlit flowers on a bright, windy day, they seemed to dance in front of the dark doorway of the shed. To create this painting, I started by drawing many superimposed images, outlined in latex mask. I like the way this gave them an almost stained glass look.
