Description
The sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean along the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. The scene was captured next to the Oceanana Fishing Pier in the seaside town of Atlantic Beach. The evening sky is filled with pastel colors as the night's shadows slow envelop the scene. The sea is calm on this night but can be quite angry as the hundreds of shipwrecks laying off the coast attest. Serene days like this can lull mariners into a sense of safety making them forget they are sailing through "the Graveyard of the Atlantic."
