Dramatic clouds are seen above the Atlantic Ocean along a Crystal Coast North Carolina beach. A wide rainge of blue tones dominate the sky with highligts of pink and magenta. Gentle waves wash onto the sand.
Also known as the Souterhn Outer Banks, the Crystal Coast consists of several eastern NC communities. and barrier islands. Natural areas of interest include the Cape Lookout National Seashore, the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve, the Hoop Pole Nature Preserve and the Croatan National Forest. The area is home to three herds of wild horses. The Crystal Coast is also known for excellent wreck diving and sport fishing opportunities.
