A bible, crucifix and rosary beads are all tools used by Christians for prayer and devotion. I have tried to bring these religious objects together as well as the spirit of an angel to add a sense of spirituality to this image.

"Rolling in the Pollen" by Patti Deters. This long horned bee (Melissodes bimaculata or Macrocera nigra) appears to be having a jolly time rolling around in the white pollen of this pink wildflower. These large, hairy black bees are most active in late summer and early autumn when their favorite flowers are in bloom such as this pale pink common Mallo (Malva sylvestris) which some call Tall Mallow, Cheese Flower, Hock Herb, Maws, High mallow, Marsh mallow, or wild hollyhock. If you look close, you can see each tiny pollen ball collecting on the bee's legs so he can fly back to the hive. This macro photograph has a square crop. This is Abbie Shores' "Edit This Challenge 71". I decided in this first attempt, to add circus elements to the empty field. I also added a circus flyer to the near fence post. I blurred it to match the dof of the fence at that point. I added the circus tent, acrobats, clown jugular, aerialist, elephants and trainer.

A great blue heron perched in its normal spot along the fishing pier at Shelley Lake Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. I took this during the early evening hours which is when you can usually find it there. It is very protective of this spot and will not let other great blues near the area.

A cute eastern cottontail rabbit enjoying the clover in my yard. I generally see them during the early evening hours but will see them out in the middle of the day at times as well. When I do see them I go outside and just watched them from the back deck enjoying themselves. I will snap a few pictures when they do something cute like this one with a piece of clover in its mouth.

While sightseeing on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, we came upon this picturesque scene near the village of Iona. Backed by evergreen treess and beautiful Bras d'Or Lake, the miniature church stood behind a white picket fence with white crosses beside the church.

Tiger Spider Weaving her Web
The Tiger Spider, formerly known as Golden Orb Weaver, is an orb-web spider which produces a stunning golden coloured silk with which she weaves her web. In the image you can see her pulling the thread out of her abdomen and connecting it with another thread in the web. It is a fascinating process to watch!
Females grow 2-4cm body length, excluding the long legs!. Males are only very little. This species can be found in large parts of mainly eastern Australia. Taken in south-east Queensland.
