Who Can View A Private, Password Protected Collection.

Posted photos of a family wedding in a private, password protected collection. When viewing statistics, I see that someone from NJ has viewed these photos. Now did they get into by password protected collection?

You would have to give the password to whomever you want to see it.

If the images were made public before you put them in a password protected collection, then people could have seen them and even commented on them.

It's best to upload images directly into a private Collection so they can't be viewed by the public.

You have to make the collection, then upload to it. Not the other way around. Then as long as they have the password, then they can see it. Just erase the images and then the collection when done, or you free the images.

It may also be that you are triggering that as that is where the server was when you saw it. Like I had a picture I set up that I bought myself, and the last person to use it was in NY... But that's I think when I bought it, and i'm in NJ.

I made the private collection first and uploaded directly into the collection ( with the exception of a few pictures where I forgot to put them into the collection). However, who- ever viewed them seemed to have access to the entire collection. At the time, I had given the password to no one. Now I see the collection has been viewed even by someone in Germany???

Was it kiez germany?

I think that's where one of the amazon servers are. Since its usually the first view, i'm certain its related to a server.

Yes, Mike. It was. I didn't realize the servers would count as a view. Makes sense now, I frequently see this site listed as a view of my photos.

Everything counts as a view. Every bot, server hit, handshake, fly landing on the keyboard, your own views, all counts as a view.

There must be a bug. I was quite surprised to see mine on Pinterest, and the link went right to the art, not logged in, no password. So not private. I deleted the whole thing.

Anyone can see images in the private collections if they are just paging through images one at a time. I have occasionally run across mine when scrolling through the images looking for something and am not even logged in.

I only mention this, so you don't upload those boudoir pictures and think they will be 100% safe from unwanted viewers. 😳

Agree with Sally & Floyd. There seems to be a bug with private images not being 100% private - even when you create the private gallery before uploading the images.

The private images are more like "unlisted" images.
