My focus has always been on the natural world and its beauty whether it be a dragonfly, flower, frog, or tree bark. When viewing our world, I look at how people and architectural structures fit into it now and in the past.   Do they coexist with their natural surroundings or look out of place? To that end, what compels me to take photos is, not only our natural world, but the history we created within it, thus combining my two loves of nature and history.   It is my intention that my photographs of landscapes and architecture, as well as close ups of nature and historical artifacts, give us a sense of the world...more

Photographing Summer

Columbia, MD - August 9th, 2012

Kathi Isserman does not have to travel far to photograph the sights of summer. Her most recent photos were taken at the National Arboretum in Washington DC, including the lake scene seen here. Among her other featured photos this month is one of the historic Capitol Columns. The old columns at the United States Capitol were removed from the east side of the Capitol in the 1950's. A phenomenal preservation effort was undertaken to save them. They now can be viewed at the National Arboretum.

Take A Look...

Columbia, MD - July 19th, 2012

Summer is a wonderful time for taking photographs. Nature is alive with color and action. My newest photographs focus on two locations in Washington DC and Maryland. The flowers, landscape reflection, and dragonfly were taken at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Washington DC, and the bee and butterfly were taken at the newly opened Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, MD.
