Sorry for all the discussions in the Image thread Abbie!

I have down the Challenge began at 6:30 PM my time here in Texas. Hope I'm correct. Think I am. I'm six hours behind you. (military time confuses me).

Donna Mibus

Heads up to everyone - tomorrow, after the first 24 hours is up, I will post here - TIME IS UP for DAY 1 IMAGES. All Day 1 images will need to be submitted here BEFORE I post my TIME IS UP message.

I will strive to do this each day after the next 24 hours is up. If your image for the day is not submitted prior to my TIME IS UP post then it will be counted as late, which means you missed that day (it will count against your 30 days off)

Hi all, Happy New Year 2022!

I'm so excited about this challenge. I guess this one will be both: great fun and hard to complete. These are my goals for this 365-day challenge:

I want to finish it :-)
At least 335 sellable works
Working in series (about 3 to 10 images each)
Bonus: Promoting all of them on social media the same day I create and upload them
Bonus: Offering some of them as NFT (without investing money)

Well, we will see how this one works out.

I started with another image for my City Lights series (I started them in December 2021). My theme for the next few days will be cities.

Thanks to Abbie and Donna for doing this. I am looking forward to seeing your beautiful images!

Peter Brighouse

Matthias, having admired your previous works, I am sure you will complete your goals;
I am aiming for roughly one tenth of your achievements, and even that may be too much for an auld giffer such as myself!
We shall see.
Very best wishes for 2022
Good luck, perseverance and inspiration to all here.
Heartfelt thanks to Abbie and Donna for continuing to inspire and support us.

Just a tip that may help with times:

Typing in Google
00:30 Gmt
gives me my local time at that time

"sábado 00:30, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) são
sexta-feira 21:30, em Bela Vista, São Paulo - SP"

11am on a lazy Saturday morning, starting the challenge now, have until 21:30 my time to complete.

Happy New Year!

(Aims, sell 'em all! )

I'm horrible at math. Can someone tell me what time the day will be up in Eastern Standard time in the states? I can figure it out when the time change happens from there. I did already submit my day one image. I think I'm going to really try hard to make it something from my day or my environment and I'm going to try to make most of my images from my phone camera. I like this one because it's going to make me THINK.

EDIT - ah never mind - Abbie has 19:30 in New York, so I guess 7:30 at night is my deadline until the time change.

Donna Mibus

Mary that is correct. 7:30 PM your time, so you are well before the deadline for today! I am in Texas, so I'm an hour earlier. I aim to get my daily image done in the morning, but we'll see how that goes!

Oh crud... forgot about daylight savings time. Wish they would do away with that!

Lindley Johnson

I'm in Chicago, so the same time zone as Donna, so 6:30 pm (we'll deal with the time change later). I believe the Pacific time (Los Angeles) should be 16:30 (4:30 pm), not 17:30 as listed above.

Iris Richardson

I whipped up my first one this morning using the remnants of New Years Eve . I put a reminder on my calendar.

Nancy Merkle

Yeah! Off to the races. Felt good to post my first image of the year!

Lindley--thanks for clarifying the Pacific Time correction. I was way off in my calculations. I always did better in Art class than Math class.

I took 'several' photo's and settled for the birdbath which I washed out, removed all the leaves, and refilled with water. Then I fill the watering can full, and it drips into the bath for about 10 or so minutes..

I had forgot that to day was the first - I was asleep at the change of the year - and one day just runs into another. We went out but most places are closed - but did find a junk store (and JUNK is the appropriate word) - disorganized 'stuff' scattered around. It WAS different.

Anywho - welcome to the New Year - may it be a good year and a prosperous year for all of you. rd

I haven't done anything on FAA for years. I uploaded an image but I can't figure out how to get it into the Year/Diary Challenge. Help.

Donna Mibus

Leo, use your Embed code. It is located underneath the colors. Copy and Paste it into the Image thread. Be sure to add Day 1 (and then label each Day 2, Day 3, etc).

Gaby Ethington

I am excited to start this too - I am on Texas time as well, Donna, so I am glad you posted the time. :)

Leo, If you are meaning how to post your image in the main discussion on the community page; you scroll down to the embed code on the right of the screen of your image (scroll down to under the 'Statistics' and 'Colors' and then you will see the box with the code) copy that and paste into the discussion. Hope that helps.

Edit ; I was typing as Donna put the info - much better info from Donna!

I’m glad to get started too.
After over a week of visitors and a final day of hosting today things will get back to normal…
Managed to edit a bright winter witch hazel, photographed a couple of days ago…. I need some colour on these grey days.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s work.
Thank you Abbie and Donna for organising.

My measure of success will be ( hopefully) creating a saleable image each day…

Just saw your email Sarah and replied that way.

Yes you can join! Happy to have you. You probably won't make Day 1's deadline, but it will just count against your 30 days off.

Abbie I am fascinated by your satellite/candelabra in space/ in the deep recesses of the cathedral. Commenting here because I can't comment on the image.

The others I'll comment as I go. Almost time to start the next one by my calculation.

Wanted to do this last year but by myself….. I failed - so happy to do this and fun to see everyone else’s work.

Lindley is right, the cut off time for Los Angeles should be 16:30, it's in the same time zone as Vancouver.

Roberta Byram

Morning! I need some direction! The theme is journal and so I thought I needed to post an image that reflected what I would write in a journal about how my day went or what I was doing or thinking. I struggled with doing this early in the day but then thought I might post about how I would like my day to go. Is there another definition of journal that I am missing? Is the theme journal supposed to mean that we just post one image a day that does not follow a theme? Please help as it will give me some direction is posting! Thank you! I am really excited about this!

Donna Mibus

Roberta, I remember Abbie said it can be a journal of our days activity, or a journal of our daily art, or a combo of both.

I'm going to be doing a combo, but really, my art tends to always reflect my days anyway (mood wise). :-)

Sue Capuano

Hi all good too see the images you have posted! Unfortunately my laptop battery stopped charging yesterday morning new one won’t be here till January 6. So I’m bowing out.

I've not been in here for quite a while, I see. I had a surge of day work the last few days before Christmas, had the "electric guys" (sounds like a band) in here for five days straight, and just generally had a lot of stuff going on. Plus I didn't comment on anybody's work for a few days because I was celebrating Christmas with my son and family. I hope everybody had a good one.

As for the electric work, I no longer have a fuse box, I have circuit breakers, and the knob and tube, except for three overhead lights that would have been ridiculous to reach, I have no more knob and tube, I have more plugs (a couple in odd places), and I can plug more than one thing in now without blowing a fuse.

WE'RE ALMOST DONE!!!!

Roy Erickson

Two more days, as my mom would say: "it's been fun, but not real fun". (smile)
and I've beginning to hate google: all they want to do is sell you something when the fact is you are only looking for information.
What a way to close out this year: I have a Doctor appointment today and tomorrow.
See y'all round the corner. rd

Gaby Ethington

I can't believe we are almost done! I don't how to relax, so there won't be much of that going on after this. :)

Mary, glad your electric issues are better!

Roy, hope the doctor visits go well.

My daughter and her husband that lives in California and their son (my grandson) that goes to NYU will be coming today to visit and spend the night, I am so glad to be able to see them. I have lots of cooking and baking to finish up this morning!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Roberta Byram

Gaby, same here. The word relax is not programmed into my being, and I am sure I will fill up that space and time with something!

Mary, so glad you have those electric issues fixed! Roy, I hope all is well with you!

The countdown is getting very short!

We all made it posting through Christmas!
I had no heat for 3 days and 3 nights with near zero temps and 19 of us on Christmas Eve day. Fireplace and oven and lots of hot air from 19 people! And my sister and her hubby hear from Alabama! Thank goodness they were in a hotel!

All of us with all of our life issues and Christmas and still WE MADE IT! proud of all of you!

Roberta

Mary Bedy

Wow, Roberta.....my DIL's parents didn't have power in Massachusetts, but the second I started talking to her mother on Facetime, their power came back on. So they told everyone I restored their power LOL. I said it was my "electric personality".

That sounds brutal, but a shared experience you will all say years from now "remember when the power went out and it was almost 0 degrees?". Everybody will remember for sure.

Donna Mibus

Mary, I know you will be so happy with the new electric re-wire! It's a life changer for sure, since we use electrical appliances every single day.

Roy, hope all goes well with your doctor visits. I have a love/hate relationship with Google. But alas! We have to take the good with the bad, I guess.

Gaby, enjoy your family time!!

Roberta, I am the same way. I have difficulty taking "down time" during the day. My daughter (bless her!) bought a magazine subscription for me, and I have back copies I've not even read yet! I can't seem to relax and just have a cup of tea and look through a magazine even, not until all my work for the day is done (and even then...).
But this year I'm going to TRY to spend a bit more time relaxing, namely reading. Only time I take time to read is when I'm tucked into bed for the night and then my eyes can barely stay open, lol.

Two more days. Two more images. Then we are DONE!

So yes, I plan to relax in that I don't have the "need" to create something new each and every day. I don't have to set a timer. I don't have to remember to email Abbie. HAVING to do something artwise has been more difficult than I thought it would be, but it has helped me to not be so utterly picky about my art, and it has gotten me into the daily habit. Still, we all know there are days when we just don't want to do it, and so to be able to NOT do art every now and then will be wonderful.

I know some of what I'll be doing when the new year comes; I want to take another look at some of the photographs I've uploaded during the past year. I know some were hurried and might need some fixing, others might need some beefing up in keywords and descriptions. For the most part, I think I was okay, but I know there are some that can use some attention. I also have more from recent trips that I haven't processed yet. This has been a great experience for me, I hope I can carry the discipline forward. Congratulations, everyone!

I will definitely be revisiting some of my images as well as ideas. There were ideas that I started but wasn't able to follow through because of time constraints. But I am not working this year, so I will have time to put into it.

We. Made. It.

Wow. What a long and amazing ride.

Many thanks to both Abbie and Donna for running this contest. I also want to thank all of you for doing this with me, motivating me with your wonderful images, and even commenting on my pictures.

I know if have not been around very much. Some things in my life changed in 2022, and I don't have as much time for art as I wish.

Oh, and special kudos to all of you that did a 'real' painting or drawing every day with your hands. This is so amazing; I don't think I could manage that. James and all others, you're such a great inspiration. Bravo!

Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

Gaby Ethington

Thank you all for a great time in posting with a wonderful group here. I echo Matthias in thanking Donna and Abbie for all your hard work and keeping up with all this!

It has been a year for many changes in my life and I am sure everyone's lives here. I hope you all have a blessed new year ahead!

Happy New Year - we did it!!!

Mary Bedy

YAY - I can't believe this year is over (almost - posting this at 9:05 on New Year's Eve Day). This was a trip. Through this journey, I found a lot of unedited photos in my "originals" folder for each project/location that I can't understand why I didn't edit in the first place, along with finding and playing with stuff in the morning to see if it would work for the challenge, rejecting the ones that didn't turn out and scrambling to come up with something new. Even though I've been using Photoshop for years and years, through this challenge I DID learn more about Photoshop with the images that I thought were lost causes.

I echo Matthias' comment about those of you who do traditional or digital work from scratch. I could hunt around and find something interesting to edit with my camera or with my phone, but I don't know if I would have had the imagination to come up with a new, more traditional artwork every day for 365 days. But anyway, YAY, WE DID IT!!!

Congratulations to all! Thank you to Donna and Abbie for guiding us through this challenging endeavor, and to all who have been faithful supporters through encouraging comments. It was a great way to focus my photography activities through the year. We did it!!

Here to a healthy prosperous and happy new year.

Congratulations to everybody on finishing! What wonderful talents and different visions of the world. Donna, thank you for running this day to day, Abbie for getting it started and checking in. All the participants, including those who did 30 days, or 100.
I'll be doing some "longer" work, more time, so perhaps not daily, bigger sizes, but determined to keep up the output.

Happy New Year to all!

Donna Mibus

Oh my gosh... I can't believe we are DONE with this year long Challenge! Thank you everyone so much for all the wonderful encouragement you gave to me this past year! Thank you for the wonderful ideas you offered which were SO helpful. Thank you for the wonderful images you submitted each day that I looked forward to seeing! Thank you Katherine for being my back up, and for Roberta for standing by as well to be back up for me. Thank you Abbie for thinking up this CRAZY IDEA OF A CHALLENGE! I think we all were a little crazy to sign up, lol, but hey, nothing ventured nothing gained and boy does that fit this Challenge! I have gained SO MUCH, but mostly I gained 21 new artist friends! Well done to you all!

Her Arts Desire

Adding my congratulations to everyone who participated in this amazing challenge!

I especially want to thank all who offered encouragement through this past year. This was a rough one for me (fighting cancer that has recurred twice during the past year - 2nd time only 1-1/2 weeks ago, death of a parent, other parent with dementia that is slowly progressing each and every day). Your comments, your support and the love and friendship that I have felt from each and every one of you has kept me going through all of this. There were days where it was all I could do to complete a new piece of art by the deadline and a handful of days where I had to accept using one of those buffer days that made this challenge possible for me, ... but knowing I was part of this amazing group has kept me in a creative and positive state. For me, ... being part of this group has given me energy that I otherwise would not have had and I am most grateful for all of you and for this wonderful and fun experience.

Thanks to Abbie for creating this challenge -- it has been one of the joys and daily reasons to celebrate throughout the year, and honestly has kept me in a much more positive space than I otherwise would have experienced. Art can be and most definitely is truly healing.

Donna, thank you for all your amazing efforts and to Katherine and Roberta for being your backups.

My only two regrets in all of this were (1) not having the time to be more part of this discussion throughout the challenge -- that was a truly missed opportunity for me to strengthen the bonds of friendship that were available through a more involved connection; and (2 and perhaps my biggest regret) not finding the time each day to comment and to actively appreciate all the amazing works of art that were created by all of you!

So many emotions swirling around in my head right now!

Here's a few:

Gratitude for the opportunity to add to my portfolio, for the challenge of posting daily regardless of life issues, and for the encouragement from each of those comments, Likes and Favorites.

Amazement of those of you who persisted in completing this challenge even though some of your life's issues were devastating.

Respect for those of you who painted and/or drew by hand daily.

Contentment knowing that regardless of the quality of the images I posted I know that I did my best for that day.

Sadness that it's over.

Relief that it's over.

Resting today.

Yesterday and today I woke up thinking I have nothing planned for posting. Then I realized it is over. I am sad that it is but happy I did the challenge. I appreciate all the comments, likes, and faves. I too wish I had more time to participate in the conversations. Life certainly does get in the way of that. One good thing about the end is I might be on time for work now. I would spend time in the morning posting and quickly looking at everyone's work because when I get home from work I never know what I am walking into. Thank you Abbie and Donna!

Kathy K McClellan

I rested on the first but managed to upload new work the past two days. I think I'm trying to keep my daily habit up before the next challenge!

However, I don't feel as pressured now since I have no "timed" deadlines.

I'll see some of y'all in the clothing challenge.
