Description
Young saguaro cacti dominate a hillside in the Sonoran Desert at Saguaro National Park in the Tucson Mountains near Tucson, Arizona during springtime. Bright red flowers atop the ocotillo stems indicate that this photograph was made in early April, the only time these unique plants bloom.
That all but one of the saguaros have yet to sprout arms indicates that they are all relatively young cacti. The saguaro cactus only begins to grow their arms once they are between 60 and 75 years of age.

Beautiful image! The little splashes of red blossoms really set this off nicely and add a beautiful bit of color. Love it! Featured in American Desert Southwest. L/F (And to be considered young at 60 or even 75 would really be something, wouldn't it!)
