Description
Pure encaustic, hot wax, and pigments on OSB. 2018
Vibrant shades of red and orange dominate the piece, depicting a stylized flower bloom with broad strokes. The background consists of darker tones that complement and contrast the fiery hues of the floral subject.
n recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere. Due to the OSB board, these works of art are very stable but heavy. This is recycled art.
The painting is made with self-made paint, which basically consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints.
The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only a few artists around the world work with wax on their own.

The colors in this image are so striking. I love the title because I often think flowers become even more beautiful as they starts to shrivel and die.
