Description

This painting won 3rd place in the contest "FOLLOWING BASQUIAT" announced by the Fine Art Capital Art Association, (Budapest, Hungary).
The painting "Veni, Vidi, Mori" is a memorial to Basquiat's genius and short life. On the left side of the canvas is a monochrome portrait of Basquiat, in which the artist's head is in motion, with four eyes, as if speeding through time between the past and the future. This dynamic and the movement around him portray his honest and passionate artistic expression.
Elements from Basquiat's works can be observed in the details of the image on the right. These details evoke the characteristics of the artist's unique style and artistic creativity. Abstract, vibrant colors and characteristic lines make Basquiat's unique and unrepeatable artistic world immediately identifiable.
The title of the painting, "Veni, Vidi, Mori" - i.e. "I came, I saw, I died" - carries a deeper message. With this Latin title, I refer to Basquiat's tragic fate, in which his talent and dedication to art transcended time to such an extent that it led to his untimely death.
Through the unique approach to the work and the combined elements, the painting reminds us of the artist and his world, through which his life and his work merge for a moment, evoking Basquiat's rebellious and brilliant being.
In recent years, I have been using OSB as the basis for my encaustic works for two reasons. One is that these raw materials are made from recycled wood, and the other is that I like the industrial effect texture that this raw material gives. Every work is already different due to the pattern of the wood, so no two paintings can be the same.
The painting is made with self-made paint, which consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints.
The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only a few artists around the world work with wax on their own.
