Description
The penetrating eyes of a mountain lion with her blue-eyed kittens capture the mother’s role as guardian. This beautifully detailed wall art was inspired by the devotion of hard working cougar mothers. Research finds that mountain lions typically purr almost continuously to reassure kittens until their eyes open in about a week. Their mother will protect and teach them for 18 to 24 months. What we love about cats shines in this out of the ordinary portrait from their sparkling eyes to their soft tawny fur.
This dramatic closeup begins with the mother looking toward the viewer on the left side of the portrait. Both kittens come to her from the right side of the picture. One rubs her mother’s left cheek and the other kitten looks up into his mother’s face. At this young age, their eyes still appear blue. Behind the trio, the creviced rock of their den blends with their tawny coats for camouflage. Mothers move to new dens every few weeks to keep their family safe. This striking portrait captures the intensely loving bond between mother and cubs.
