Description
A close intimate view of the Bhangra Dancer on the wall. "Bhangra is a type of traditional folk dance of Punjab, originating in the Sialkot area of Punjab, Pakistan. It is done in the season of harvesting. According to Manuel (2001), bhangra is especially associated with the vernal Vaisakhi festival. " Wikipedia.
The facial expression of the dancer struck me as one who's passionate about celebrating the dance and it's also a metaphor of me and all of us celebrating life and being joyous when it comes to harvesting or reaping the fruits of our labor.
Of all the images on this wall, this is the one that is the most striking and stood out amongst the rest. It's my first work of an Indian man dancing. It was a delight to do this during the process and quite happy with the result. I hope to do more of such of this race and culture as they do fascinate me to some extent with their colours and vibrancy in all forms.
