Other than the very first race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, no other car manufacturer has ever won the race outright until McLaren achieved exactly that. Blasting through the rain-soaked track, J.J. Lehto, Sekiya, and Dalmas would beat out even the prototype cars to take the podium. McLaren placed 4 more cars, 3rd 4th, 5th, and 13th. In celebration of the dominating win, McLaren created the McLaren F1 LM.
