A vintage movie poster from Spain of ''Task Force'', a 1949 American war film directed by Delmer Daves. It's notable for its use of black-and-white and Technicolor sequences and focuses on the development of U.S. aircraft carriers from the USS Langley (CV-1) to the USS Franklin (CV-13). The film stars Gary Cooper, Jane Wyatt, Walter Brennan, Wayne Morris, Julie London, and Jack Holt. It's particularly significant as the only film Cooper and Wyatt made together and was the last of eight films Cooper and Brennan did together.
The film received support from the U.S. Navy, which lent naval vessels and facilities and provided archival footage of the development of naval air power. The story follows a navy man, one of the first pilots trained to fly from an aircraft carrier, and continues through his career to WWII and his retirement. It's a mix of history lesson, war film, political essay, and love story, praised for its patriotism and accurate depiction of American aircraft carriers...
