At the end of the race season, an engine gets pulled and sent to the machine shop to be rebuilt and readied for the season. These engines get pushed hard and the wear and tear on them is quiet costly.
This particular machine shop specializes in race engines. To see one sitting on the bench being readied for disassembly is pretty cool. Once they are taken apart, the work can take weeks to get this motor back to race ready. It won't even look like the same engine except for a few major parts that won't change.
Engine like these are very precious to their owners, they represent a major investment, and are often the key to their racing success or lack thereof. -YoPedro
