Description
Two sandhill cranes were flying in the evening sun looking over the mountains near Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. Many cranes and snow geese stayed in water overnight to avoid being attacked by coyotes, foxes and other four leg animals. After sunrise they started calling each other louder as if they were deciding on the timing on when they will fly away from the pond at the same time. Then it happened. Thousands of birds flew at the same time! The sound of their wings was very loud. It was probably louder than any other sound I have heard on the street of New York City. But it was nature sound, not artificial sound -- it didn't annoy me at all :) Watching flying birds, especially cranes, make me feel like I want to fly like them - the elegant movement of their wings, high above the mountain, flying in the beautiful New Mexico sky.
