As I was putting the flowers away in the vase, my next task was to toss out these beat up leather shoes when it struck me. Western woman in have come a looooong way compared to 100 years ago where woman were supposed to conform to the stereotype of homemaker, nurturer, mother....that role was it. A free spirit, headstrong, independent or strong willed woman was *generally* frowned upon for it deviated from the ideal.
Leather 'biker' boots carry the imagery of a tough and free-spirited individual ready to hit the road free of any strings. While the flower symbolically invokes a softer, gentler personality. I paired them together because people don't fit into just the one category. People are complex. Woman can be both - one can be tough but gentle, free-spirited but put down roots. One can put the 'petal to the metal' where both sides of the coin form the whole person.
