Life Is Not Measured By the Number of Breaths We Take, But By the Moments That Take Our
Breath Away!
This image was captured from along the Pill Box Hike just before the first Pill Box with this vantage point being several hundreds of feet above beach level. The Lanikai Pillbox Hike, also popularly known as the Kaiwa Ridge Trail, is one of the most picturesque and pleasant Oahu hiking trails. This intermediate hike rises just above beautiful Lanikai Beach, rewarding hikers with some of the best vistas of Oahu’s windward side.Enjoy!
The two islands on the horizon are the Mokulua Islands, a popular kayaking destination from Lanikai Beach. I shot this image after the sun came up which always produces much lighter colors than before the sun is up. The sun here has risen and is just about to go behind a layer of clouds.
Lanikai Beach is located in Lanikai, a community in the town of Kailua and on the windward coast of Oahu, Hawaii. The name Lanikai means "heavenly sea." This small ½ mile strip of beach is consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world. The two islands on the horizon are the Mokulua Islands, a popular kayaking destination. Adjacent to Lanikai Beach is a primarily upper-class residential area because of this it is accessible through public beach access paths. Although the beach itself is public property, it is not state land and is not a county beach park like many beaches in Hawaii. There is no public parking lot and the area lacks facilities like restrooms, showers or lifeguards. Parking violations are strictly enforced and access to the beach is made possible between some of the houses.
