Love this duvet cover in the Tree Fort Suite of the Elk View Lodge, Fernie, BC, Canada.
A menagerie on beautiful birds gather on a snowclad fir tree awaiting their turn to feed at an alpine feeding station. This work is the second in the 'MId-Winter Provision' series, but with its own title which means "Oh Christmas Tree," in English. Here I imagined how some ancient Germanic winter traveler might have happened upon such a striking scene as inspiration for the very first Christmas Tree. Doesn't it seem plausible that such a life-affirming sight as this, encountered on what must have been a very challenging trek through deep and difficult snows, would become symbolically attached to the birth of the Christ child.
