Description
Chestnut-breasted Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus curvirostris) is a species of cuckoo in the Cuculidae family. Found in Southeast Asia from Myanmar through to eastern Java, the Philippines and Borneo, it is a large cuckoo measuring up to 19 inches with grey and dark green upper-parts and chestnut underparts, and a large curved pale upper mandible. The male and female are similar in plumage. Unlike many cuckoos, it builds its nest and raises its own young.

This is one of my all time favorites of the thousands of bird photographs I have taken, I have an 11x16 print that stares at me in my office. It is the work that inspired me to start Clear BIRD Photography. The bird itself, by its behavior and inquiring looks really gave me a completely new way of observing.

Thank you John, this is one of my personal favorites. This bird has followed me around the aviary several times, it likes to watch people.
