Description
A polar bear are the largest land carnivore in the world. They live mostly in the Arctic Circle where they hunt seals from sea ice. Sadly, they are struggling these days due to global warming. The sea ice is thawing 30 days earlier than 3 decades ago and so they are forced onto land a month earlier and thus use up more of their fat reserves. Awareness of this issue is critical in trying to protect one of the most amazing mammals in the world.

How to recharge the spirit: Take a while to visit Harriet Peck Taylor's art here or in person. Loved her work for many years. The bear must be my spirit animal. I don't see a ferocious animal. I see a powerful spirit that restores strength to those who need it. Thank you, Harriet!

Thanks you so much Dora for the feature in your group Winter Wonderland! It's hard to believe that here in Colorado, winter is almost over.

Harriet, somehow I had missed this one. I really like how you have achieved such texture with all of the brushstrokes. You are the master of bear portraiture and this is yet another beautiful example of that.
