Description
My mom suffered from a form of cancer that attacked the lymph nodes throughout her body.. I was but 9 years old and had a HUGHHHH responsibility as caretaker... This was more than 3 decades ago and treatment was not as it is today, I'd go so far as to say, "archaic." She was prescribed a rigorous regiment of pills and rounds of chemotherapy.. The chemo treatments killed not only the cancerous cells in her body but non-cancerous, good healthy cells as well.. Even as I write this brief description, I admire her quiet strength as she endured this torturous treatment.. When she returned home from chemotherapy, she was exhausted, was lethargic, had no energy, no appetite, couldn't even get out of bed and by the time her health came back around, it was time for another round energy sapping chemo treatment.. This continued for what seemed to be an eternity.. One afternoon, my mom who didn't smoke, didn't drink, didn't swear, didn't even eat pork was visited by friends who smoked marijuana.. Seeing that she had lost sooooo much weight they insisted she take a "toke" as they all felt she'd nothing to loose.. She did.. lo and behold she gained an appetite and was able to retain food without regurgitation. With this newfound discovery, mom was able to continue the chemo, come home take a few puffs countering the negative effects of the poisons that had overtaken her system.. In short, Doctors were amazed to find my mom had made a miraculous recovery.. NO CANCER! Once my mother regained her health and strength, she stopped smoking, "weed!" This was a very tough period in our lives as a family but we made it through..
Like my mother, I do not smoke (never have) don't drink and because of this experience I am an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, worldwide...
I hope you like my photographic art piece, "Kush Kitty" in tribute to my mom..

Thanks so much for sharing this heart warming story with us, as it really tugged at my heart strings. Sorry about what your Mom had to go through, but the end of the story is a happy ending and speaks volumes for using marijuana for medicinal purposes. Congratulations! This is your special day! I just wanted to compliment you on your lovely piece of artwork that I have chosen to be featured on the homepage of our WFS group. It is with pleasure and and honor that I have chosen this work to βshow offβ to other FAA artists and also future buyers on the look out for the beauty of your works. ONYX, #1, Herb, not "weed." Why insult this plant that helped your mother (and so many others) with a pejorative. #2 Cannabis, not Marijuana. MJ is a name give to Cannabis in order to demonize it as part of the prohibition campaign. (Make it something those "evil Mexicans" were inflicting on good clean American kids!) #3 I have one daughter who turned to it for pain management while the doctors were trying to use heroin to manage it. The herb works, the opioids and antidepressants did not, Thank GOD! #4 I have another daughter that used as a result of a chronic reaction to anesthesia required for brain surgeries. SO, "Testify my sister!" the feature committee of All Things In Moderation (who hope you'll add them to your list.) PLAU UPD cfel

What an intriguing story...and what beautiful artwork. Obviously, weed an cause a lot of problems, but there needs to be more acceptance of its healing qualities. L/F

What a powerful and touching story that comes with this wonderful piece of art!! in my culture, we have used this plant as healing herbs for thousands of years. a few of my friends had recovered from cancer by using only this plant. and they choose not to go for chemo. perhaps you can give this plant more credit for your mother's healing. anyway, i really love this adorable creation!!
