Description
At the Memorial Bridge entrance to the back channel a story of two seagoing vessels is told. A security fence seperates civilian water traffic including lobster boats from nuclear submarines. SSN 767 USS Hampton is docked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard undergoing repairs. Kittery Foreside is located behind the lobster boats. Growing up in both Portsmouth and Kittery I have watched these seagoing vessels my entire life. My great grandmother sponsored the USS Sennet during its launch at PNSY on June 6, 1944 the same day as D-Day. She had 5 sons in the service at the same time.
