Description
Walking the path of the Hall of Mosses trail in the Hoh River Rain Forest is like walking through a vast, green cathedral. Giant old growth Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock trees tower hundreds of feet overhead while Big Leaf Maples fill the understory below.
The Hoh River Rain Forest, located on the western slopes of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State receives an average of about 130" (3,300 mm) of rain annually, and the result is a lush flora of ferns, lichens and mosses growing on these ancient trees.
This wonderful, short hike is within the boundaries of Olympic National Park which is listed as a USESCO World Heritage Site.
