Description
At the location where President Abraham Lincoln delivered his immortal Gettysburg Address, I found nothing more appropriate to photograph then the statue of History. The feminine form is one of four sculptures at the base of the Soldiers' National Monument at the center of Gettysburg National Cemetery.
The Soldiers' National Monument is a 60-foot tall granite memorial with five marble statues telling an allegory of "peace and plenty under freedom … following a heroic struggle.". At the top is "Genius of Liberty", and on the four buttresses of the base are "War", "Peace", "Plenty" and as photographed here, "History".
