Description
Garden spider (Eriovixia pseudocentrodes) moulting. Garden spider hanging from a silk thread while shedding its exoskeleton (skin). The exoskeletons of spiders and insects cannot grow like a human's skin. Therefore, in order to increase their body size, they develop a new larger exoskeleton within the old one and must then shed the old exoskeleton (as here).
