Description
Moonlit panorama of Cutler, Maine's Naval Radio Station transmission towers and surrounding area.
The station's towers are prominently lit by red lights with the highest tower being 997.5 feet tall, They are a familiar site widely visible throughout the landscape as well as from the sea in this part of down east Maine.
The towers are VLF (very low frequency) transmission towers of the Cutler, Maine Navy Base radio station which provide communications to the Navy's Atlantic submarine fleet.
For additional data and interesting facts about this naval station check out Wikipedia and other online websites.
