Description
On this ice-cold morning the temperatures were in the single digits. The frozen ocean waves are often referred to as 'slur' here on the Cape. This is a fascinating and rare occurrence where the low temperatures are so cold long enough for the freezing to take place. You can see the seagull (mid right) trying desperately looking for breakfast.
Watching these waves is a wonderful experience, as they resemble a large, white rolling carpet.
I thought my hands would never thaw out:)

Wow, Dianne! What an interesting situation! I've never heard of "slur" before. I feel sorry for the gull! Congratulations! Your amazing image is featured on the "Environmental Art - Specifically Ocean Conservation" home page!

I'm so glad your hands thawed. We need you to keep putting them to such artistic use. This happens in Iceland as well, more expected there I imagine.
