Description
A bowing Royalty the Victoria Crowned Pigeon (Goura victoria), named after Queen Victoria for its lacelike crest. Posing for me at Zoo Miami Wings of Asia Aviary. This species is the largest pigeon species in the world at 26-29 inches in length and weighting in at about five and half pounds. They live in swamps and sago palm forests and drier forests where they spend most of their time on the ground foraging for fallen fruit, seeds and insects.
