Still hobbling around on a gimpy left knee could not deter my urge to be creative and photograph some beautiful landscapes maintained by the Scenic Hudson Organization and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the West Esopus Landowners Association..

I shoot images for them on occasion, and this preserve, known as the Shaupeneak Ridge is located in the town of Esopus, NY.

This preserve offers a cornucopia of treats for nature lovers — wildflower-filled grasslands, woods, a waterfall and pond, stunning rock formations and an abundance of wildlife, including beaver, deer, coyotes and turkeys.
