This is my tribute to The Tiger, which is on the brink of extinction. Just over a century ago, 100,000 wild tigers roamed across Asia. Today, fewer than 3,900 live in a mere four per cent of their historic range. The largest tiger population can now be found in India.
There are a little over 50 tiger sanctuaries in India. India is home to 80 percent of tigers in the world. In 2006, India estimated that there were 1,411 tigers which doubled to 3167 in 2022.
I call it 'A Treasure in the Shadow's'. The Tiger is in the shadows, very soon to disappear into the darkness. I hope mankind can find a way to bring this beautiful animal back from a status of endangered.
