Title
A corner in Benecid
Artist
Margaret Merry
Medium
Painting - Egg Tempera
Description
As you know I mainly paint in watercolours but also use soft pastels, particularly for portrait and figurative work. I decided I would like a change but I find acrylics too artificial and oil painting too physically demanding so I thought I would try egg tempera paints. This very old medium was used by the Renaissance painters before the advent of oil paint and in more recent times by the artist, Andrew Wyeth. For my first painting in this medium I chose a simple subject, this shady corner in Benecid, Almeria, Spain, with tones and textures rather than light and shadow.
Sennelier egg tempera paints on canvas 40cm x 30cm.
I sell my paintings to collectors all over the world and am happy to quote for this painting including delivery direct to your home.

Splendid painting, Margaret. Try it on wood with tempera paints. It will bring out a certain spanish ecclesiastic authenticity. Remember that a wood surface needs to be prepared using gesso, which provided a foundation for the paint.
