This watercolor painting captures an amazing Austin Texas sunset sky filled with bats as they emerge from Congress Bridge.

A colony of over 1 million Mexican free-tailed bats lives under this bridge. From March to November when the sun sets, the bats blanket the sky in spirals as they head out to forage for food.

The sidewalk atop the bridge fills with people to view the scene. My favorite views are from Lady Bird Lake below the bridge.

You can watch the bats from the Statesman grassy knoll or take a boat cruise, rent a kayak, SUP or bicycle to enjoy this exciting experience.

This evening event is a popular outing for locals & visitors!

This watercolor painting captures a cliff-top view of agave plants & the colorful blue seawater of the Atlantic Ocean. This beautiful location is Costa da Caparica, a beach town near Lisbon, Portugal.

These agave plants are Americana Century plants that amazingly bloom only once in their life! The succulents shoot up a tall single flowering stalk. When the blooms fade, seeds drop to the ground so new sprouts can keep the garden growing.

Big Bend Texas Santa Elena Canyon



This watercolor painting captures the fantastic steep towering limestone walls of Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend carved by the water of the Rio Grande River.

The Rio Grande River serves as the international border between Texas & Mexico.
In this view, the late afternoon sun drifts over the Mexico cliffs on the left, & a lovely shadow grows on the United States canyon wall on the right.

The Santa Elena hiking trail offers diverse terrain & vistas. From the car park, the trail crosses a mostly dry Terlingua Creek. At the mouth of the canyon, the path ascends the USA cliff on the right, up to the top with panoramic views of the desert valley, mesas & spectacular rock formations. The trail then descends to water level to a small beach for THIS view.

This watercolor painting captures the Austin Texas skyline view from Town Lake, (also known as Lady Bird lake). A soft sunset slowly turns the blue sky pink & lights from the city shimmer on the calm water.

The state capitol was once the tallest building in all of TEXAS & now it's dwarfed by skyscrapers.

Recognizable architectural features of downtown are the tall Austonian, the 3 layers topped 100 Congress Avenue building & the beautifully lit top of the Frost Bank Tower.

Diplandenia flowers bloom gloriously in the backyard. As of 2022, this is the eighth year these beauties have graced the garden. This tropical plant is a genus of 120 species of flowering, tuberous-rooted, woody-stemmed climbing vines native to Central and South America. The deep royal red color of the blossoms remind me of the joy of the Christmas Season and the precious blood of Yeshua Jesus shed while on the Cross at Calvary for the cleansing of my sins that I may go free with the clear knowledge I am forgiven, as I have received His precious gift of eternal life.
