Kavala - Greece

Kavala city is a city of East Macedonia in northern Greece. This group is dedicated to artists that come from Kavala or have imagery related to the city of Kavala. The group intends to gather all related material and present through the whole World the city which is mostly known in Greece as the azure city due to its clean sea waters and its clear blue sky.
In 2018 the regional unit of Kavala had been awarded 11 Blue Flags in total for its clean beaches.
Some quick facts about the city. The most famous site of Kavala is the settlement over the peninsula of Kavala, which is the so-called Old Town. The inhabited peninsula with the name 'the peninsula of Panagia (Virgin Mary)' flows traces of human habitation back to ancient years. The first organized settlement was built in the 7th century B.C and exists consistently since then. In ancient years the settlement with the name of Neapolis used to be just a small seaport and an entry to the great Macedonian city of Philippi. Now the city's name is Kavala and has evolved into a city of 60.000 people, while the ancient Philippi is just ruins. Between the names of Neapolis and Kavala, there was a period where the city's name was Christoupolis, due to the fact that Apostle Paul who brought Christianity to Europe first landed in ancient Neapolis and then traveled to Philippi where he raised the first Christian community in European soil. For that reason, the small seaport of Neapolis changed its name to Christoupolis as a reminder to that important incident. The name Kavala is a name that gradually prevailed during the Ottoman era and is related to the word 'Skavala' which is also an ancient name and is referred to the ancient townlet of Skavala which was an area north of the modern city of Kavala that had many gold mines.

2. Be nice, respectful and tolerant. Be courteous to each other.
3. No bad mouth, shouting, hate speech or insults.
4. Do not spam. Anyone who spams the group will be removed without further notice.
5. The group is targeted towards all ages. That means that any art that presents nudity will be removed.
6. Images should be free from dust spots, excessive noise (unless intended), abnormal colors.
7. Theme and optical message of the art depicted should be clear and concise (unless it is in an abstract form).
