No, Rebecca. You don't need to have accounts for each of those. Different servers have different rules, but I don't think any of them are "better".

It's usually easier to just search the @ portion of the name in your instance's search. Following the actual links brings you to mastadon instances that you're not signed up for.

It's easier to share your actual full username like @JasonFink_photography@universeodon.com. You can find it in your profile.

People can copy that into their search and find you very easily. The hyperlinks create a lot of confusion.

Read Piter's post above. I was having the same issue. The copy and paste really fixed it for me

the dot.art one has a million rules and they erased my ai stuff they found and hit me with violations and an email, I switched to social. They didn't mind everything I posted but didn't want ai stuff. They actually clicked on everything and saw that I marked it as such. That's too much big brother.

There was an announcement as just a simple banner message on Threads stating it will be part of the Fediverse very soon. When that happens it will be the largest instance. It will stabilize Mastodon in some ways. It will grow Mastodon in other ways.

Meta in general does not allow as many bots as X or Mastodon.

The IG profile is tied directly to the Threads profile. There is an ease of going back and forth.

Threads is not available on the desktop yet. That is coming.

Except that already more than a third of all current instances, representing almost 20% of Mastodon users, limit or block Threads instances, i.e. they very deliberately do not and will not federate with Facebook/Meta. I think it's fair to say that many, if not most Mastodon users were trying to get away from the algorithm-driven, ads-littered, policy-manipulating, bot-poisoned social networks where they and their personal data became the product. So whatever the Zuck is up to now, many doors to the coming Godzilla node will remain firmly shut, and thank goodness for that.

Whatever people constantly have gripes. The same guys run out of money to support their instance and shut down many of them over time.

The ideology is not the topic. Threads can become part of the Fediverse and plan to join it.

Frankly, to me, it is very boring to be against Meta. I am not a cheerleader but the grinding case against it is uninteresting. If it is put in economic terms it is why them not me for those who complain. Microsoft saw this with individual coders who thought the world only owed them, not Microsoft. People feel cheated if someone else does well. I think that is lame.
