I have begun uploading photos from my 49 day trip through the South Pacific ending in Australia. Rather than post scores of photos here one at a time, I will post a couple and a link back to all: https://pixels.com/profiles/john-haldane?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=1090344

"Pink Cactus Rose Bud with Texture" by Patti Deters. This pretty pink cactus bud looks like a rosebud, expect with extra big thorns! These desert cacti flowers are always fun to see and photograph. This little bud was seen in the western USA and has been enhanced with several subtle textures for artistic effect. If you like outdoor nature photography, please see more flowers, plants, and other flora at patti-deters.pixels.com.

"Haleakalā Sunrise - Otherworldly" by Patti Deters. The view from the top of the Haleakalā volcano is like nothing I'd ever seen. It's a barren yet beautiful landscape that looks like it could be from another planet. At a little over 10,000 feet above sea level, Haleakalā is a huge shield volcano that hasn't erupted in over 200 years. Rising from the Hawaii island of Maui, this mountain is a popular tourist destination for viewing sunrises and sunsets. Equally amazing is the red sand and rock landscape vista that reveals itself as the sun appears each day. Located in what is now Haleakala National Park, it was called "House of the Sun” by early Hawaiians. If you like outdoor nature photography, please see more landscapes and other travel images at patti-deters.pixels.com.

Sacred Kingfisher II
The Sacred Kingfisher has beautiful colours: the bright turquoise blue and greenish upperparts, tail and wings. The underparts are buff-white and they have a cream-coloured collar. A broad black stripe extends from the bill to the neck.
These kingfishers seldom eat fish, they live in coastal woodlands throughout Australia where they prey on insects and other small animals. Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.

I like to do light painting and did this with the Christmas lights I have on our house. I went outside in the dark and shot a slow shutter speed as I moved my camera around, to capture the colorful light in the dark, to make colorful energetic abstracts. Today I manipulated the image with wavy lines for an image with energy.

Snuggle Up
What a beautiful start of the new year to spot this gorgeous koala, framed by the pale trunks and some of the green leaves of the Eucalyptus Tree.
Koalas are so good at making themselves comfortable, snuggling up in the fork of a tree for a nap. Notice she is peeking with one eye to keep check of her surroundings
Koalas can be found in open woodlands in coastal areas of eastern and southern Australia. Koalas are an iconic Australian species. Despite their popularity they are an endangered species and need all the help they can get! Taken in south east Queensland, Australia.
Numbers of this beautiful animal are seriously declining and they have finally been listed as endangered in 2022. I am so grateful to live in an area where there are still a few and you can imagine how special it is each time I see one. I am so happy to be able to share my images with you. To help save this beautiful species, I will donate 50% of my proceeds to the Wildlife Warriors' Koala Conservation Project when you buy a print of one of my koala images,

Hold Me Close
What a beautiful start of the new year to spot this gorgeous koala with her Joey in the Eucalyptus Tree. How tenderly does she hold her arms around her snoozing baby to make it feel safe!
After 6 months in the pouch, a young koala (Joey) gradually begins to emerge, never leaving the close proximity of its mother. When the youngster turns 8 or 9 months, it's too big to go back into the pouch any longer. It still stays close to mum up until 12 months and rides on her back instead!

Springs Flatwings' Love Heart
A pair of Springs Flatwing in the mating wheel - the typical mating position for Damselflies. Rather then a wheel, it looks more like a love-heart! The sunlight seeping through the dark canopy of the rainforest is quite harsh but it has a beautiful effect reflecting all colours of the rainbow on the wings!
This medium-sized damselfly inhabits streams near their springs. It is metallic black and has pale yellow to orange markings and rests with its wings spread. They can be found in north-east New South Wales and south-east Queensland. Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
