Hi all. I think some of you already know that I was stricken with breast cancer about a year ago. That event, coupled with getting laid off from my job due to my division at work getting shut down, months of searching for a new job, having to stay isolated for months post-cancer treatment due to fear of COVID (chemotherapy destroys your immune system), which caused me to have to resign from my NEW job, and other issues, have made life very difficult for me.
After discussing these things with our friend Abbie, I have decided to set up a GoFundMe. Another artist here set one up several years ago, to which I donated. I know that times have been tough for all of us of late, but I felt I must reach out for help.
And I'm offering something in return. If I reach my GoFundMe goal, the person who is able to donate the most will be given the original pastel painting of "Epitaph for a Captive Cheetah", which I'll post below. The original painting does not have the black box or text on it. It is the painting itself. It is matted, but not yet framed; I will frame it for the person who wins it.
Here is the link to my GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/50b4be08 Please read my story there. It describes in more detail why I'm requesting help.
Below is the print version of the painting I'm offering:
If you folks can spread the word on your Facebook, Instagram, etc. accounts, I'd be very grateful. Thank you for any help you can give.

LOL Roger. Wanna know why I kept my name a secret? Because, all my life, I've had to put up with bad Cary Grant impressions. ;)
Thank you so much for your help!

The last donation is by me but not by me!!!
Poor Viv couldn't get the payment to go through and then they wouldn't let me add a message for her!!!!
So it's from Viv

JL good luck with the colonoscopy. I hope it all goes well and while I am at it I want to wish you a merry Christmas. I am sure it would be a gift to put all this scary stuff away for just one day at least. It could mean the world of difference for you and those you love. I hope you can make that day Dec 25 this year.
Wishing you love, peace and great news of good health in the coming new year.

Thank you so much, Richard and Felix, for your donations! Your generosity brightened what was a pretty terrible day yesterday.
Thank you, Leslie, for your kind thoughts.
I just want people here to know that I never ever thought that I'd have to set up a GoFundMe account. I have worked hard all my adult life and supported myself. When I had to resign from my last job due to the cancer, plus having to be isolated due to fear of COVID, my boss told me that I'd done so well there that I could come back when I'm ready - there would always be a place for me. I was planning to do just that when this new malady hit.
Please don't forget me. Encouraging words mean so much.

Thank you, Sharon, for your donation! And Merry Christmas!
It's minus-five degrees right now where I live. How I wish I had moved to Florida after I got laid off. Maybe someday I'll get another chance. Everyone stay warm out there!

Thank you, Lucia. It's tough, I got through breast cancer, but it cost me my job and most of my savings, and now this. Surely 2023 will be better.

JL, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. I'll keep you in my thoughts for a better year in 2023. Wish I could contribute but I'm not in a position to do that right now. I hope things look up for you very soon.

Thank you, L., for your donation!
Though I spent Christmas alone, I watched Youtube videos about Christmas markets in Germany, France, Sweden and Japan. Watching the crowds, the beautiful decorations, hearing the music and talk, made me almost feel like I was there. So Christmas wasn't so bad!
I hope everyone here had a great Christmas Day!

Health update, FWIW:
I got a call from my doctor yesterday regarding a blood test I took three days ago. It indicated no anemia - anemia is one of the main indicators for colon cancer. So that's great news! There will be more tests to come, however. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you again to everyone here. I hope to repay your kindness someday by paying it forward, if I can. Please keep spreading the word about my GoFundMe. I look forward to getting healthy again and making art again. May everyone here have a Happy New Year!

You would repay everybody by just getting healthy and happy again!
Well you have virtually no control over your health, but you do have control over your happiness, so start there

I wish this could go viral, although of course I don't know how to do that, or what the result would be.
But whatever happens, I'm very grateful to the kind people who have helped, and I'll be all right.
