Intellectual satisfaction guaranteed.
The presentation style of the print may be said to be that of a sophisticated simplicity: an attempt at acting in harmony with the Taoist interpretation of reality.
In keeping with this way of thinking the characters/letters are only in black and on a white only background as will all the prints in the [Tao Te Ching transmits] collection – a total of 81.
The work has a compelling aesthetic and philosophical appeal to it; the subtlety of its ambiguity being its particular charm. It would be helpful to keep in mind that when it comes to appreciating what the Taoists have to say on anything, a personal yielding: a disposition leaning and swaying towards and with the Taoist way of perceiving and appreciating reality is necessary; namely an artistic sensitivity for the beauty of simplicity and the power of the succinct.
