MX Sisters Creations is from the city of bridges. Pittsburgh! We'd like to see other FAA artists' bridges!
My civil engineering background and my love for photography (Emma) make a happy marriage between the two arts. This one is titled Westinghouse Mist.
We have more art, writing, weekly live streams with acoustic music, and yarn crafting on urloved.mxsisters.com if you'd like to have a look. :)
Thanks for posting!

Bay Saint Louis Bridge 2009 by Kathy K. McClellan is a photograph taken in Bay Saint Louis, MS (USA).
Known locally as the Bay Bridge, this structure built over the Bay of Saint Louis, replaced a draw bridge that was destroyed in August 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Building the bridge to an 85' vertical clearance eliminated the need for a draw. The 2.1 miles long structure between the counties of Hancock and Harrison (cities of Bay Saint Louis and Pass Christian) in Mississippi features a 12' wide walking path and four lanes for US Highway 90.
The Bay Bridge was the state's first design/build contract enabling the bridge to be built in record time by hiring the same contractor to do the design and construction.
One lane in each direction opened to traffic on May 17, 2007 ahead of schedule and all four lanes opened on time in November 2007.
The bridge won several transportation awards and set a record for the largest, fastest, continuously-sustained bridge reconstruction project in the United States.

Big Four Bridge Louisville KY is a photograph by Kathy K. McClellan in Louisville, Kentucky (USA) looking north towards Jeffersonville, Indiana.
In 1887 in Jeffersonville, Indiana the Louisville and Jeffersonville Bridge Company was formed. Construction on a bridge across the Ohio River to connect the two cities was started in October of 1888 but not completed until 1895.
The bridge company was financially strapped upon completion of the bridge and sold it to the Indianapolis-based Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway, also known as the Big Four Railroad. That's how the bridge came to be called the Big Four Bridge.
During construction thirty seven men died in three separate accidents, the last being one of the biggest bridge disasters in the United States (1893). In 1918 two interurbans collided on the bridge. That accident killed three and injured twenty.
As rail weight increased the bridge was rebuilt on the same piers in 1929.
In 1968 the bridge's parent company the New York Central Railroad merged into the Penn Central. The Big Four Bridge traffic was rerouted to the Fourteenth Street Bridge and it's approach spans were removed and sold for scrap.
The bridge remained closed for years until May 2014. New entrance ramps were built on either side of the river once again connecting the two cities with the Big Four Bridge but this time as a crossing for pedestrians and bicycles instead of rail cars. Both cities have parks at the base of the approach ramps with family oriented activities.

Wagons To Walkers by Kathy K. McClellan is a photograph looking down the lower deck of the Old Railroad Bridge in Sheffield, AL, built over the Tennessee River.
The bridge has two levels. In the past trains used the upper level and wagons used the lower level.
The original stone piers that were built in 1840 were anchored so well into the bedrock of the river that they are still in use today.
The original double decker bridge had a wooden frame but after storms, fire and a collapse in 1892 the superstructure was rebuilt using steel. The bridge has been used for trains, wagons, streetcars and pedestrians.
O'Neal Bridge (visible on the western or left side of the RR bridge) was opened in 1939 and the lower level of the Old Railroad Bridge was no longer used.
The bridge no longer spans the entire river. The lower deck has been restored and is presently used as a walking path over 1500 feet out over the Tennessee River.
A wealth of information on the bridge and it's history can be found on the Old Railroad Bridge Co.'s web site.

This photograph shows the upper level of the historic Old Railroad Bridge in Sheffield, AL. This level was used as a railroad bridge while a lower level was first used by wagons, then a streetcar and now pedestrians.
The bridge was originally built in 1840 with an all wood frame. After several storms, a fire and total collapse in 1892 the superstructure was rebuilt from steel.
The bridge is no longer in use and does not span the entire river at the present time. The lower lever has been converted to a pedestrian walking trail and this upper level is gated barring public access.
The Old Railroad Bridge Co.'s web site holds a wealth of information on the bridge and it's history.

The famous Vizcaya Bridge over the Nervion River near Bilbao at sunset, the world's oldest transporter bridge. The bridge was designed by Alberto Palacio and built in 1893. The gondolas still carry cars and pedestrians across the river between Portugalete (L) and Getxo (R) today; UNESCO declared the bridge a World Heritage Site in 2006.

Montreal Jacques Cartier Bridge Illuminated
The iconic Jacques Cartier Bridge in Montreal, Quebec, Canada is a famous landmark overlooking the Saint Lawrence River. In 2017, to celebrate both Canada's 150th birthday and Montreal's 375th, an illumination project called Living Connections was installed. The bridge is illuminated every night, with its colours and intensity varying with the changing seasons and pulse of Montreal life. Its use of big data to influence the display of its exterior LED lighting system makes it the first connected bridge in the world. This panoramic photograph shows the bridge lit up in green, blue, purple, orange, and yellow, with its colors reflecting in the water of the St. Lawrence River.

The Pakenham Bridge is a stone bridge with five arches that crosses the Mississippi River at the town of Pakenham within Mississippi Mills, Ontario. Built in 1903, it is the only one of this type in North America. With a parking lot and rapids right at the bridge, it is a popular picnic spot. Here the Mississippi River drops a few meters over a wide cascade with exposed bedrock, but below the rapids there is a strong undertow that has claimed several lives. This was one of the sites listed in a book I bought with a bunch of "unusual" things to see in Ontario.

The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge across the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland and 9 miles west of Edinburgh City Centre. It is sometimes referred to as the Forth Rail Bridge to distinguish it from the adjacent Forth Road Bridge. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Construction of the bridge began in 1882 and it was opened on 4 March 1890 by the Duke of Rothesay, the future Edward VII.
The bridge spans the Forth between the villages of South Queensferry and North Queensferry and has a total length of 8,094 feet. When it opened it had the longest single cantilever bridge span in the world, until 1919 when the Quebec Bridge in Canada was completed. It continues to be the world's second-longest single cantilever span, with a span of 1,709 feet.

2D image of the Francis Scott Key Bridge at night with light reflections as seen from Ft. Armistead.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge, also known as the Outer Harbor Bridge or simply the Key Bridge, is a continuous truss bridge spanning the Patapsco River in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The main span of 1,200 feet (366 m) is the third longest span of any continuous truss in the world. It is also the longest bridge in the Baltimore area.
The bridge was opened in March 1977 and is named for the author of the Star Spangled Banner, Francis Scott Key. The bridge is the outermost of three toll crossings of Baltimore's Harbor. Upon completion, the bridge structure and its approaches became the final links in Interstate 695 (the Baltimore Beltway). Despite the I-695 signage, the bridge is officially considered part of Maryland Route 695. The span is 1,200 feet (366 m) long and carries an estimated 11.5 million vehicles annually. This bridge is a designated hazardous materials truck route, as HAZMATs are prohibited in the two tunnels.
In this version, I used a longer exposure to smooth out the water surface a little. I also added the moon and glow for artistic enhancement.

The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge officially opened on March 29, 2012. The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge was designed by Santiago Calatrava, which goes over the Trinity River in Dallas, Texas as part of the Trinity River Project. This was taken at the edge of the Trinity River so that I could get as much of the bridge as possible in the reflections.
