Lovely Monarch Butterfly. I started raising Monarchs and releasing them this year to help with the declining population. This was my first release as it landed on a wildflower in my garden. Sell Art Online

Phyllis,

Yes, I've been raising Monarch now for 3 years and probably up to 600-700 released! Even released a few hundred with those MOnarch Watch stickers on their wings! 2 found!

An American Copper butterfly on some sort of Alium flower. These onion like plants that we had growing in one of our gardens attracted so many pollinators in late summer.

Common Blue Butterfly Male by Marlin and Laura Hum

Common Blue Butterfly Male

This male common blue butterfly is feeding on a wildflower in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in the summer. Common blues are small blue butterflies that are indigenous to Europe but have been introduced recently to North America. The male's wings are blue above with a white border, and the female butterflies have brown wings with a dusting of blue and orange spots.

3D stereo crossview image of Lily of the Valley flowers and a digitally added butterfly. To View: Gently converge (cross) your eyes and focus on the middle image that appears while ignoring the outside. If successful, this method becomes easier with practice and will become 2nd nature.

Viceroy Butterfly by Marlin and Laura Hum

Viceroy Butterfly

The viceroy butterfly mimics the monarch butterfly with its orange coloring, black veins and white spots on the borders of its wings. It can be distinguished, however, from the monarch by the horizontal black line across its wings. Viceroys are also smaller than monarchs. This viceroy butterfly on wild grass with a blue sky background was photographed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the summer.

Monarch Butterfly Blue Eyes by Marlin and Laura Hum

Monarch Butterfly Blue Eyes

The monarch butterfly with its orange and black coloring with white spots is always a welcome sight in summer. In this closeup photo, you can see the monarch's blue compound eyes, with which it can see a greater range of color than humans. Its wings are spread and it is drinking nectar from a zinnia flower. This monarch was photographed in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, Canada.
