Conceptual Art Ideas That Do Not Work As Prints

Do you have ideas for art that will never work as prints and therefore do not share them here? If you're like me, you do. Some of my ideas are whimsical, funny and sometimes just plain crazy. Let this post be a place to share some of your crazy and fun concepts that we may never see here. (This is NOT an approved image thread.)

My first example: Wrap a child mannequin in cloth, mummy fashion, place it in an open front box and title it "Not Your Daddy's Art".

I like the thread and do not wish to have it disappear without any comments. There are many types of performance art/ conceptually based that cannot be printed. I have a fried who once had a video camera running in the women’s restroom at the college I was at. Out in the hallway there was a TV set up showing the restroom. Needless to say it was not used much that day. The truth was the video camera was on but had no tape to record and the tv was showing a tape of the restroom that was shot for a few hours in the middle of the night when there was no one around. Odd idea but certainly not a concept for a print.

Some political drawings are of the day, and, like selling yesterday's bread, would not sell as prints. I often doodle such ideas.

Another one is violence, it might work in an exhibition but not necessarily as a print. I just saw awful news today of two Amazon indian children were "chewed up" by a machine in an illegal mining operation. Perhaps not a representation of the actual event, but a symbolic result. Exhibition , probably not a print.

Conceptual art like comedy come and go as the public changes tastes.

We can not count on younger people appreciating anything we say or do.

Some young folks were calling me a boomer like something had dawned on them. I did not tell them that it would eventually dawn on them that boomers did not mind being labeled boomers.

Conceptual art sells. And it doesn't.
There is absolutely no telling what will sell here.
Load 'em up. You never know.

I've always enjoyed creating conceptual art using my own persona.

Like the time I went to a Black Tie event as an AfroThai

Roger, that is brilliant.

I have artworks that are sculptured to canvases... And on print they are useless, because they lack that special "effect"

Jim personally I would have preferred the word doll in your opening statement. It think if a child was not involved it would have read better. I also see no reason why it then would not have worked as a print!

Like Xard said, Rodger, that IS brilliant and Ed, that is also very clever and funny. Scorpion, a child mannequin is not a child, actually, isn't a mannequin a sort of doll? As farr as it working as a print, some 3 dimentional pieces work as prints, but I don't believe the mummy in a box would translate well to a print .

Jim did it change or should was I not wearing my glasses. On your second point try it! Who knows; there are fairly crazy people out there buying art.
