Windmills pump the precious water for the farming community in the Mid North of South Australia. Time and neglect has taken its toll on one of them

This windmill can be found near Penong on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. The area is known for the many windmills scattered across the wheatbelt, that pump water from the Anjutabie Water Basin.

Penong, South Australia on the Eyre Peninsula's wheat belt, there is a collection (open air museum) of windmills. The area is renown for the windmills, as they were used, and some still are, to pump the underground water for the farms and town. Now solar pumps are the go.

A sunset behind the windmill at the Massey Air Museum created a silhouette of the windmill.

Massey Aerodrome got a new windmill in 2007, the old farm type used for pumping water before rural electrification (dating to the twenty's or thirty's). The tower itself is 47' high plus the mill will bring it to approx. 52' or 54' overall. It will also have an 800 gallon wooden tank or cistern inside the tower about 20' off the ground.

As the sunrise begins on December 25, 2015 the sky turns brilliant colors. The sun paints the clouds. The mountains and windmill silhouette against the canvas. This windmill is on highway 118 just south of Fort Davis, Texas in the Davis Mountains.

windmills always catch my attention

I stitched two images together for a slightly wider and better composition, also digitally adding the moon as a compliment. The water tank was recently added (2020) to this restoration at the Massey Air Museum on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Look closely and you'll see water dripping from the bottom of the Cypress water tank.

The Massey Air Museum is a living airport-museum reminiscent of rural airports of a bygone era. Activities include antique aircraft restoration, annual fly-ins, EAA Young Eagles events, and aviation camaraderie. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of aviation as it was in its earlier days.

I replaced a blank sky with a sunset sky for enhancement, and darkened the tower for more of a silhouette in adjustment for the backlit sky replacement. The town name of "Massey" is on the tail of the wind mill. The tail also has a couple of birds perched on it.

Windmills always attract my attention also, they like flowers make a good foreground element for composition

Kinder Farm Park is a park located in rural Millersville, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA. The park contains 288 acres and is operated by Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks. It is open year-round. Organizations using the park include The Friends of Kinder Farm Park and the Kinder Farm Park 4H Livestock Club.
