My New Wig

This is my Irish mane end of the day somewhat disheveled.

I have been cutting my own hair since end of March 2020. After a shower and shave I actually am presentable for a brief period in the early morning.

So here is the new me above!

David, I LOVE that little bit of gray in your hair. Men look very handsome with gray hair.

Is your hair in your current profile photo your own, or is it a wig?

Well I try Diana but the effort is not worth it. LOL

Rose, the photo in my current Avatar IS my own hair, but it has thinned out so much in the past month for some reason... I guess age related... hehe! Thus my new adventure with getting a new crown of jewels!

Shedding hair is a sign of thyroid trouble, you might want to get it checked. If everything is good there try biotin, it can help with the shedding. And I think your new wig is gorgeous!

You're welcome! I envy your color, I always wanted to be a blonde, and was for a while when I was much younger, but I could never pull off platinum as much as I would've loved to. I did do the bottom layer of my hair pretty light, you can see it in my avatar, but it has all grown out now. These days I'm just cultivating a gray streak that I'm pretty fond of, guess I'm going to have to settle for that.

As the saying goes, if you're not blonde on your mother's side, and you're not blonde on your father's side, you're blonde on peroxide!

Wear whatever you like! We put way too much emphasis on hair in our culture. It's just dead skin cells. Why not fashion up your head!

Is this the first time you've worn a wig Diana? I know two people who have a whole wardrobe of 'em. I never knew what to look for when meeting them someplace, it was always a surprise!

I love the shaved look on people who can pull it off too Sharon. Unfortunately I couldn't in a million years.

I had a friend whose hair I always admired. She always looked like she took time on her hair. I complimented her on it one day and she was surprised and said, "Donna! You know it's a wig, right?" It was my turn to be surprised, because no, I did NOT know she was wearing a wig. They've come a long way with wigs.

Diana, I think you look fabulous, very elegant! I could not tell it was a wig at all, unless you would tell anyone I feel its super natural looking and suits you very nicely. I have always had baby fine hair, & hardly any eyebrows, and have started Biotin like Susan mentioned, & my eyebrows are suddenly filling out, as well as a few more hairs, that is reason why I used to wear headbands for a long while.

WIGS are AMAZING these days!!! A HUGE difference from the wigs of the past. There is no reason a woman or a man, for that matter, cannot have a beautiful head of hair!

It just occurred to me I CAN be a platinum blonde! Maybe I'll take Diana's lead and have some fun. Do they sell really long wigs too Diana? I'd feel neked without a lot of hair.

Susan, YES!!!! Paula Young is a very good quality, synthetic wig... Mostly all of her wigs are under $150.... mine were all under $100

I just had a thought though... my natural hair is at the top of my butt. Do you think I can I get all that into a wig cap or is that gonna be a problem? It's fine but relatively thick for being fine.

Susan, Cher back in the day on the Sonny and Cher Show had hair that long and she wore short wigs. It’s possible.

That's true! But she probably also had three stylists to help!

Ma'am..your new wig is overwhelmingly wonderful.

It's lovely!! It frames your lovely features beautifully, and the color is very flattering. You look fabulous!! (And I really like the glasses, also. Its not often that I think glasses actually enhance someone's appearance!)

Is it comfortable? (Is it a problem getting your natural hair scrunched up inside it?) And is it hot? (I can only imagine how it might feel in Florida heat and humidity!! I recently went to a fundraiser tea, and we were encouraged to wear hats, and I had to shop a long time to find one I didn't want to rip off my head after 5 minutes)!
