I am fascinated by fasciation, an odd mutation that causes "cristate" or crested growth on many plant species. Here is a photo of an otherwise "normal" Organ Pipe cactus sprouting 2 new cristate arms from its center. It's growing in the Sonoran Desert near the Mexican border.
