Tuxedo cat portrait soft pastels painting – First place win in the FAA contest MIX YOUR MEDIA April 2021.
Thank you all for voting!
https://fineartamerica.com/featured/tuxedo-cat-portrait-painting-karen-kaspar.html
For this portrait painting of the beautiful tuxedo cat of our neighbour visiting our garden I first painted an abstract background with acrylic colors in shades of purple, pink and blue. Then I applied some clear gesso to create texture for the fur of the animal. The kitty is painted with soft pastels. With vibrant shades of blue, teal, green, red and purple I worked on the background to emphasize the black and white fur of the cat.

Tied for third in the Underwater Wonders contest.
https://fineartamerica.com/featured/undersea-coral-reef-and-tang-fish-deborah-league.html
Undersea Coral Reef And Blue Tang Fish. In this fantastical undersea painting, electric blue Tang fish swim around a reef populated by a myriad of colorful coral. Various and multi-colored corals are offset by open water on the right. Vibrant blues, yellows, pinks, reds, purples and greens create a feast for the eye. There's so much to see in this image, take your time.

First place in the After The Rain - All Media contest
https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-beginning-of-life-deborah-league.html
Water droplets on a leaf symbolize life as it begins. The seemingly endless number of circles, in varying sizes of development, appear to use the veins of the leaf as a highway toward their destiny. Each one quivering, pulsating, full of promise, moving upward and out into the unknown future. In the blurry background is the promise of untold numbers waiting to embark on their own journey.

Tied for third place in Abstract Landscapes by Watercolor Painters
https://fineartamerica.com/featured/lazy-summer-day-abstract-deborah-league.html
Lazy Summer Day abstract watercolor painting. It's warm and a little humid, there's a slight breeze. The green scent of nature rises up around you as you lie back in the soft grass, damp on your back. Birds are quiet in the midday heat, but the almost imperceptible buzz of busy insects rises to meet your ears. The burble of the nearby brook lapping the stream bed plays harmony to their toil. Your mind submits to Nature's demand for attention. It's moments such as these that are forever etched in our psyche, calling themselves up at the most unexpected times. The day can be hot, the grit and clang of the city an assault on the senses, but then you pass by a fountain surrounded by flowers. Suddenly, and for just a moment, you are transported. Somehow through the noise you hear the bees on flowers and feel the mist from the fountain as it whispers over you with its damp feel and wet scent. The sun on your skin is hot, and you are there again, by that burbling brook, for just a moment. Perhaps this is how we survive a world of our own making. Internalizing and retreating to the natural when overload threatens to overtake us.

Calvin Boyer 22 Hours AgoReply | In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.

FIRST PLACE!!!
"Pink Poppy on Black - Pepperbox" by Patti Deters. The beautiful flower bloom of Pepperbox (Papaver Somniferum Pepperbox) is an heirloom variety with seeds that are used in baking deserts. (Poppyseed muffin, anyone!?) It produces large seed heads from the green center pod, which are attractive in flower arrangements. Square crop on black background. If you like this digital art image, I invite you to please share or see my main image gallery (floral, plants, and more) at https://patti-deters.pixels.com.
